We Are A Living Church Serving God To His Glory

Rev Ted and Sue Wright Bid Farewell to Harare Synod

The Wrights bid farewell to Harare Synod at a service held in their honor at Harare Congregation. The two have served as Missionaries sent by the PC-USA for several years. Their tour of duty came to an end after just a few years as they felt that their family in the USA required their presence. It was, according to them - a very painful decision which they had to make, but they felt very strongly about it.

The Wrights had replaced Rev Synider who had to end his tour of duty on medical grounds to return to the USA for treatment. Rev Ted and Sue Wright are the only ones to have spent lesser years with Harare Synod of all Missionaries. The Wights however, left a legacy of great teachings and team building which were their valued contributions. They also kick started a partnership discussion between Harare Synod and Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York, USA which culminated in three exploratory visits being held in 2007, 2008 and the latest being this past May 2009.

The Wrights were given two symbolic watches by the Harare Synod and by the Head Office Project Committee respectively; a map of Zimbabwe one of the countries that they served and a map of Africa a continent they had been serving till now. Various congregations also showed their great appreciation for the Wrights in the form of small gifts as they had requested not to be given large items due to shipment logistics.

Harare Synod will indeed miss these wonderful partners in the Vineyard and wish them God's Blessings and good health as the trek back to be with their families in the United States of America. See Photo Gallery for pictures of their farewell.
