CCAP Harare Synod

We Are A Living Church Serving God To His Glory

Head Office Project - Update

2008 marked the beginning of tangible progress on the Head Office Project thanks to the great effort by the Congregations - Harare Congregation in particular and various stakeholders who honored their obligations towards the Kwame Nkrumah Head Office Project. Each church member was requested by Synodical Committee when it met in 2007 to contribute USD2.00 one off payment towards the foundation of the project. Well wishers and friends from abroad also donated towards the puchase of steel which was a major challenge as it required large sums of foreign currency to acquire. Rev Ted and Sue Wright who where PC-USA representatives for Southern Africa based in Zambia gave series of teachings on fundraising and good stewardship as well as connected Harare Synod with various christian bodies in the PC-USA to garner support in prayers and financially towards this project. The latest visit was by Mr Warlick and a delegation from PC-USA that came and toured the project site in April 2009.

The sub structure must be in place before the rains start otherwise the USD4,000 that has been paid to re-excavate the holes, widen them ready to pour concrete would go to waste. Harare Synod alone can not raise the estimated USD25,000 or so required to complete the substructure before the rains and thus guarantee the plans for the project. If for some reason Harare Synod fails to build the substructre within the given period they face a challenge of renewing the plans which usually takes a lot of time, beauracracy and money.

Harare Synod kindly requests you to join them in prayers and in financing this very important first stage of the building. The other phases of the project will then be constructed one floor at a time. Zimbabwe was hit by the worst economic meltdown in living memory and with very little in the form of formal employment the church whose memebrship is mainly women and youths is struggling to raise funds to support its missions. However, the Lord is shining upon their efforts and each month funds towards the project are trickling in to the Glory of God. You can help by contacting the General Secretary at the contact details provide on this website or by writing to the Project Consultant using the e-mail addresses provided. They would be happy to fill you in.

God bless you for your support to the Project.

The CCAP Harare Synod Head Office Project

The Head Office Strategic Planning Committee:

From left to right: Elder Misanjo, Rev Juma, Elder Lungu, Elder Gunde and Chairman Elder Binga

The Committee was set up in 2003 but officially recognised at the 2005-07 Synodical Biannual Conference. A mandate was given to them to proceed with the proposed plans for the Head Office Project that they had proposed. All congregations in the Harare synod were requested to give the committee priority when they visit. The Head Office Project was adopted and upgraded by the Synod Conference as its major project and that each member of the CCAP Harare Synod was to play an active role in its coming to being.

The Committee compositon is as follows:

Elder Binga AD of Highfields Church, Highfields Congregation - Chairman

Rev Juma JC the Synod General Secretary - Member

Mrs Chanza C of Glen View Church, Highfields Congregation and Synod Secretariat

Elder Misanjo S and Elder Chimoyo F of Mbare Church, Harare Congregation - Members

Elder Gunde R and Elder Lungu R of Mufakose Church, Mufakose Congregation - Members

Elder Tembo LC of Tafara Church, Tafara Congregation - Member

Rev Boloma L (Synod Vice Secretary) - Member and Mrs M Muwalo of Highfields Church, Highfields Congregation - Member

Elder Lamiel BK Phiri - Synod Consultant (volunteer)

It is interesting to note that all members except 3 are retired from active employment and have served the church for more than 30 years in various positions of responsibility. They held posts of responsibility in their previous jobs and have raise all their children well and have grandchildren and some great grandchildren. When a need for a dediacted and focused group to spearhead the almost impossible to conceive project came, these men and women a separate committee not mentioned here took up the challenge. Their experience and wisdom guided them to the launch of the historic ground breaking ceremony on 27th November 2005.
